30% reduction in hazelnut production in the effort

The director of Talesh Agricultural Jihad said: the production of hazelnuts in Talesh has decreased by 30% compared to last year.

Ali Mousavi informed about the hazelnut harvest in Talesh city and stated: The hazelnut harvest in 115 hectares of fertile orchards in Talesh city has been started by 90 farmers. It is expected that 40 tons of hazelnut crop will be produced this year. The economic value of this amount of hazelnut produced is 4 billion rials.

He added: This amount of harvest has decreased by 30% compared to last year. The occurrence of spring cold and drought are the main reasons for the decrease in yield in Talesh orchards.

85% of Iran’s hazelnuts are harvested from 17,000 hectares of Gilan hazelnut orchards. The cities of Rudsar, Amlash, Siahkal, Talesh, Rudbar and Astara are the most important hazelnut production areas in Gilan.
