Regarding the increase in the area under cultivation of this crop, the director of Astana Ashrafieh Agricultural Jihad said: The area under peanut cultivation in Astana Ashrafieh has not increased, but if the weather conditions are suitable, we will see an increase in the production of this product.
He mentioned the uncontrolled import of peanuts and the sale of foreign almonds such as Chinese almonds called Astana almonds as the challenges of selling this product in the market and said: Astana is currently a reliable brand for quality peanuts in the region and this brand should be protected. .
He stated that about six and a half tons of fresh cocoons are produced annually per hectare of the area under peanut cultivation in this city, and specified: about four tons of dried peanut cocoons are obtained annually from this amount of wet cocoons.
Goodarz Kamalpour, pointing out that about five thousand farmers in this city are active in the field of peanut production, continued: Ashrafieh Astana peanut harvest begins every year from mid-September.
