At present, more than 420,000 hectares of pistachio orchards constitute 16% of the country’s orchards and have an annual production of 250,000 tons in the country.

The area of pistachio cultivation in the country is about 420 thousand hectares, which is cultivated in 21 provinces of the country, 74.33% of which are fertile trees and 25.67% of seedlings. Kerman province with 78.62% of the fertile area of pistachio has the first place and two provinces Yazd and Khorasan with 7.92 and 5% of the second and third positions, respectively, have the area of cultivation.
The average amount of pistachio production in the country is about 249 thousand tons of dried pistachios and Kerman province with 65.1% in terms of pistachio production is in the first place and four provinces of Kerman, Yazd, Khorasan and Semnan in total 94.31% of pistachios They produce the country.

Iran has been the world’s largest producer of pistachios for centuries without a competitor, but now other countries are competing with Iran in the field of pistachio production and trade.

According to the US Management and Planning Organization, Iran is the second largest producer and exporter of pistachios in the world after Iran, and this country has benefited from Iran’s weak presence in world markets due to the intensification of EU regulations against Iran and in recent years its exports Has increased significantly. The largest importers of California pistachios are Hong Kong, Germany, Russia, France and Canada.
