The deputy director and director of Neishabour Jihad-e-Agriculture, pointing out that the area under pistachio cultivation in this city is 2,220 hectares, announced that about 1,650 hectares of this amount have been damaged by last winter’s cold.

Engineer Ali Dehbashian said: out of two thousand and 20 hectares, 870 hectares are young and infertile gardens and the amount of one thousand and 150 hectares are fertile gardens.

He added: Neishabour city has 15,000 hectares of orchards such as apples, plums, pears, grapes and pistachios that pistachio is one of the main products of the city for fresh consumption, especially exports.

Dehbashian stated: The area of pregnant pistachio orchards this year is about 1,150 hectares and considering that about 650 hectares have been damaged due to frost, it is predicted that from this area, the amount of 1,725 tons more pistachios (with an average of 35 per hectare / 1 ton) to be harvested.

The deputy head of the organization and director of Jihad-e-Agriculture of Neishabour reminded: the pistachio processing factory with a capacity of 610 tons of raw pistachios has started working in a work shift since last year and is ready to process the product, but this factory is not responsible for processing the city’s products.

Dehbashian advised gardeners to harvest pistachios in a timely manner and immediately transport them to the factory for processing and to refrain from storing fresh pistachios, because stacking wet pistachios spreads aflatoxin toxin in pistachios and reduces its export value. .
