Beginning of pistachio harvest from Bardaskan orchards
The director of Bardaskan Agricultural Jihad announced the beginning of pistachio harvest from the gardens of this city.
Engineer Hamid Hajinejad announced the area of ??pistachio orchards in this city as 5,810 hectares and said: 3342 hectares of this area is rainy and 2468 hectares are non-rainy.
He stated that Bardaskan city is the second in Khorasan Razavi province in terms of cultivation and production of pistachio, adding: 4800 tons of dried pistachios with an average production of 1400 kg per hectare is harvested annually.
He said that due to the favorable climatic conditions and the observance of technical principles and proper management practices in orchards, the amount of crop has increased significantly, he said: this year is expected to increase pistachio production by 30% compared to last year.
Hajinejad, stating that the economic value of this important product and strategy for the city of Bardaskan is over 31 billion tomans, continued: With the development and improvement of existing gardens, the living conditions of gardeners can be changed.
He added: For two consecutive years, pistachio cultivator has been the sample of this province from this city and it is hoped that with the very high production of pistachios, a provincial and national position will be given to Bardaskan city in the current crop year.
He described the pistachio cultivars produced in this city as Ouhadi, Koleh Ghoochi, Ahmad Aghaei, Akbari and Badami and said: The dominant cultivar is Ouhadi region which has a suitable export and commercial value and is compatible with the climatic conditions of the region.
Hajinejad also asked gardeners to spray foliage or fertilizers recommended by horticultural experts in March after harvest and before the leaves fall, when the buds are swollen.
The director of Bardaskan Agricultural Jihad called for the establishment of packaging industries in the region by investors in the agricultural sector due to the existence of various products and drought, and asked gardeners to harvest in a timely manner and appropriate and hygienic processing to reduce pollution to export this important product. He said that this product creates employment for more than 15,000 people in the harvest season, adding that the product of Bardaskan pistachio is exported to Japan, Korea, Arab countries and the European Union.
Haji Nejad, referring to the existence of more than 21 pistachio recording and processing terminals in this city, added: Currently, all pistachio products in Bardaskan city are peeled and processed by the mentioned units with completely hygienic conditions.
