The director of Joven Agricultural Jihad said: water shortage due to the continuation of droughts and pests and diseases is one of the most important challenges for pistachio farmers in Joven city.
Engineer Javad Izadian, Khorasan region, explained: Iran is the first country in the world in terms of pistachio cultivation and production.
He said that this product is one of the strategic products in the horticulture sector of the country, he said: significant revenues are generated through the export of pistachios for the country.
Referring to the sensitivity of this strategic product, Izadian added: Even a disease such as aflatoxin alone can be an important threat to pistachio exports.
Referring to the implementation of targeted subsidies and its impact on the comparative economic benefits of pistachio products, he said: More support for pistachio farmers in order to manage production costs and increase product quality is essential.
