Where is the origin of Iranian sesame products?
Ardakan’s representative in the Islamic Consultative Assembly emphasized on compiling a development document and the necessary standards to improve the quality of sesame products with the focus on Ardakan city as the largest producer in the country in this sector.
Mohammad Reza Tabesh in a meeting with the Director General of Standards of Yazd Province, stating that in recent years, the production of sesame products in Ardakan city has increased as the largest producer in the country, said: We are good in this area, although due to economic challenges and currency fluctuations, there are problems in the supply of imported sesame, which the Ministry of Industry and Jihad-e-Agriculture should provide the necessary support measures in this regard.
Emphasizing on planning to develop the cultivation of this product in areas prone to sesame production in the country, he said: High employment in this sector in Yazd province and Ardakan city, as well as the positive attitude of people to sesame products, has made it necessary to increase the quality of products and The standard organization should also interact effectively with manufacturers, to promote the health of products and develop the necessary standards.
A member of the board of trustees of the University of Science and Technology stated: University and research centers and standard research institutes can be effective in this field by working together.
Tabesh added: Marketing of Ardakan sesame products and upgrading production technology are among the important things that producers and responsible agencies should consider in order to create a reasonable proportion between the amount of production of sesame products in the province and its sales market in the country.
The representative of Ardakan people also demanded the development of necessary standards and a document for the development of sesame products with the focus on Ardakan city as the origin of Iranian sesame products.
Mohammad Hossein Majedi, Director General of Standards of Yazd Province, also said in this meeting: Sesame products of Yazd Province, which are produced traditionally, should be qualitatively organized.
He also stated: There are more than 350 production units for various types of sesame products, including Ardeh, Ardeh halva, sesame oil, Ardeh oil and other products in Yazd province, about two thirds of which are active in Ardakan city.
Majedi continued: In recent years, with the creation of a cluster of sesame products, the union of employers of sesame products producers and standard effective measures and the University of Medical Sciences and mining industry and trade organizations and agricultural jihad and considering that Yazd province is the origin of sesame products in the country. The necessary infrastructure for the development of this industry in the province is fully provided.
The official added: The capacity to create employment and the existence of increasing customers, convinces the province and especially Ardakan city to take a qualitative approach to development in this branch of industry.
Majedi Ardakani, while reminding the necessity of using global experiences, said: it is appropriate to direct a part of the province’s research budget to the industry of producing sesame products, while the province’s universities with the cooperation of the standard research institute are excellent in this regard.
