Sumac and hazelnut harvest festival was held in Qazvin

The first festival of harvesting medicinal plants of sumac was held in the historical village of Narandeh in the Cohen region of Qazvin city.

The head of the Agricultural Jihad Organization of Qazvin province said at the festival: Festivals are a unique cultural capacity that is spontaneous and popular and is a day of thanksgiving for divine blessings.

Dr. Mohammad Reza Safari added: we should register these festivals in the cultural calendar of the province and hold them every year; Because such festivals provide an opportunity for the authorities to become more familiar with the problems of the people and to present new methods of agricultural production.

He said: Due to the unique climate and good soil, rainfed sumac is unique in this region and our farmers must insure their crops in the new crop year due to drought.

The third hazelnut festival was held in Akojan village of Rudbar district of Qazvin city.

The director of Jihad Keshavarzi of Qazvin city said at the festival: There are 1,600 hectares of hazelnut orchards in this city, which is expected to harvest more than 1,200 tons of hazelnuts from the orchards of this city this year.

Alireza Bahrami stated: Introducing the hazelnut product, acquainting people with the tourist attractions of Rudbar section of the city and thanking God Almighty are among the goals of this festival.

He pointed out: Qazvin city has the second rank in the country in the field of hazelnut production and more than nine percent of this product is produced in Rudbar section of the city.

Bahrami pointed to the cultivation of new hazelnut cultivars and added: Over the past years, more than 30,000 new seedlings of Moghan agro-industry have been cultivated in the region.
