Identification of 5 cold-resistant genotypes in walnut trees
The faculty member of the Islamic Azad University, Shirvan Branch, said: Five cold-resistant genotypes were identified in walnut trees and introduced to North Khorasan farmers.
Dr. Ali Dadar, pointing out that the cold that occurred in 1986 caused a lot of damage to walnut production in this province, added: For this reason, the plan to select cold-resistant genotype was carried out in walnut trees in this province.
He continued: In this regard, different types of walnut tree genotypes were artificially kept in the laboratory at negative temperatures of two, four, six and eight degrees Celsius for half, one and a half, three and six hours.
Dadar pointed out: Currently, walnut trees are propagated in the province with those five cold-resistant genotypes.
According to him, this measure has also been done in almond and apricot trees.
