Harvesting 3560 tons of walnut products in Marand
The director of Jihad Keshavarzi of Marand city announced the beginning of walnut harvest in this city.
Jalal Rahimzadeh, the public relations officer of the Jihad Agricultural Organization of the province, told reporters on the sidelines of the walnut harvesting ceremony: The region has 92,350 hectares under cultivation of agricultural products and 11,350 hectares of these lands are gardens.
He stated that there are currently 1,065 hectares of walnut orchards in Marand city, adding: of this amount, 890 hectares are walnut trees and the rest are non-fruiting.
Rahimzadeh, stating that it is predicted that 2,700 tons of walnut products will be produced and marketed from 890 hectares of walnut orchards this year, added: The cultivars produced are local, clustered and hybrid.
The director of Marand agricultural jihad said: this management intends to hold the necessary training courses for the development and improvement of orchards by replacing the crowns of walnut trees with the efforts of experts and the cooperation of farmers.
