Harvesting 12000 tons of walnuts from Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari gardens
Horticulture director of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization announced the harvest of 12,000 tons of walnuts from the province’s orchards.
Hamidreza Mansouri added: the area under cultivation of walnut orchards is 11,906 hectares, of which 7700 hectares are fertile.
He said that last year the production of walnuts was 11,800 tons, adding: This year, due to the addition of a number of walnut trees to the reproductive age, this year’s production has increased to 12,000 tons.
Engineer Mansouri stated: Shahrekord city with 2400 hectares has the highest area under walnut cultivation.
According to him, 60% of the walnuts produced are exported to neighboring provinces.
