The area of sesame cultivation in Yazd should be reduced

The director of agriculture of Yazd Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization announced the decrease of sesame cultivation area in this province.
Kazem Farahmand said: Last year, sesame was cultivated in 500 hectares of agricultural lands in the province, but this year, due to the occurrence of drought, this amount has decreased.
He mentioned Bahabad and Khatam as the main sesame cultivation areas in Yazd and emphasized: in line with the policy of increasing the production of oilseeds, the area under sesame cultivation in the province will reach 1,500 hectares by the end of the fourth development plan.
The director of agriculture of Yazd Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization stated that the policy of this organization is to increase the yield of sesame from 800 kg per hectare to 1,200 kg per hectare and specified: changing the cultivation method, selecting suitable seeds and reducing losses are strategic policies to increase sesame production.
