Pistachio planting is being studied in Hormozgan Azerbaijan and Golestan
Engineer Behrouz Gheibi – General Manager of Jihad Keshavarzi Pistachio Office, referring to the role of Pistachio Cooperative Company as a provider of mental security for gardeners, said: This has provided a high level of psychological security for producers.
Referring to the construction of pistachio terminals, he acknowledged: In 1976, there were 100 pistachio terminals and more than 60,000 unhygienic home peelers in the country, which fortunately in recent years in the country there have been very extensive and significant changes in this area. . »
Gheibi added: Currently, there are about 818 terminals in different parts of the country and pistachios are processed in a completely principled and technical way.
The director general of the pistachio office of the Ministry of Jihad for Agriculture continued: Currently, 80% of pistachio production is done in Kerman province, but with the planting of pistachios in other provinces, this balance and position is upset and a group of researchers to study pistachio planting in Hormozgan provinces. Azerbaijan and Golestan have been sent.
Referring to the insurance of pistachio orchard products, he said: We expect that 100% of our pistachio orchards will be covered by agricultural insurance and also at least 200 hectares of pistachio orchards will be insured in the 2005 crop year, which is not a high cost for farmers and mental security. And it brings economics to producers.
Referring to the quality of Iranian pistachios and its impact on the country’s exports, Gheibi said: In recent years, many efforts have been made to improve the quality of pistachio products because this product plays an important role in non-oil exports and sometimes up to 14% of the country’s non-oil basket. He has dedicated himself.
Referring to the measures taken to develop this product, he said: Creating a suitable platform to gain the trust of gardeners, through culture, is one of the measures that have been taken in this direction and it is necessary to follow it with a faster and more serious pace. »
Referring to the importance of hygiene by gardeners, Gheibi acknowledged: Consumers of this product at home and abroad are looking for a healthy product that in order to produce a healthy product, the Ministry of Jihad Agriculture has a significant role in promoting knowledge and awareness of gardeners.
The Director General of Jihad Keshavarzi Pistachio Office considered the use of the private sector in the consulting and implementation sessions of the HCCP plan (crisis point tracking and control plan) as appropriate measures in this sector and added: Following the HCCP plan of the European branch of the World Dried Fruit Organization Iran is looking for a green corridor plan, and we hope to bring at least 5,000 tons of fully monitored products to market this year.
He called the water shortage problem one of the shortcomings in pistachio orchards and continued: Unfortunately, 400 hectares of pistachio orchards are located in water-scarce areas, which reduces pistachio yield compared to competing countries, reduces production and increases the cost of pistachios. . »
He also mentioned the cultivation of mint in pistachio orchards as one of the problems of the country’s pistachio orchards, adding: If we reach mass production in this field, the ground will be prepared for more pistachio production.
Gheibi continued: Releasing pistachio green skin in orchards, roadsides and farms is one of the most important concerns and challenges in pistachio production because pistachio green skin is a very good substrate for the growth and mass production of aflatoxin-producing spores and late in the city. The wind blowing of these spores also damages healthy pistachios, which has been taken in appropriate measures, such as the design and construction of a drying green skin in Kerman province for use by feed mills.
By encouraging gardeners to take technical and health advice seriously and separating these political debates from agricultural products, including pistachios, Iran’s position and status should be maintained, Gheibi concluded.
