250000 tons of Iranian pistachios are the top pistachio producers in the world

Iran is the first pistachio producer in the world with a production of 250,000 tons of pistachios per year and 56% of world production.
Despite the economic sanctions imposed by the United States, the European market is still a customer of Iranian pistachios due to the good quality of Iranian pistachios in the world, said Samiei, a pistachio expert at the Foundation for Agriculture and Food Industry.
He added: Last year, more than $ 500 million worth of Iranian pistachios were exported to Europe. This amount of pistachio exports increased by 108% in terms of weight and 141% in terms of value compared to the previous year.
He added: 30% of pistachio production is consumed domestically and the rest of the pistachios produced in Iran are exported to foreign countries. Meanwhile, the United States, Turkey and Syria are the top pistachio producers in the world after Iran, and it is worth mentioning. The United States is the second largest producer of pistachios in the world with 40,000 to 100,000 tons of pistachio production per year.
Samiei added: Imposing tariffs between 200 and 300 percent for Iranian pistachios in the US market has practically made it difficult for Iranian pistachios to enter the United States.
He said: Using a modern packaging system and introducing the brand name and presenting the product with a brand can be one of the principles of success in developing Iran’s market share in Europe.
He said: Between two and three thousand tons of pistachios are produced annually in the pistachio orchards of Bonyad in Sirjan, and most of the pistachios produced in these orchards are exported to Europe.
