Walnut and almond harvest began from Maragheh orchards
Harvesting of almond and walnut crops began from 2,174 hectares of orchards in Maragheh.
Reza Gheibi, director of Maragheh Agricultural Jihad, added: Maragheh is one of the most important regions for the export of dried fruits in the country, and the only walnut and almond product exported last year was more than 5,600 tons.
He announced the average production of almonds and walnuts in this city as two to 3.5 tons and added: out of 17 thousand 105 hectares of orchards in Maragheh, 585 hectares are dedicated to walnut cultivation and 1,590 hectares are dedicated to almond cultivation.
The director of Maragheh Agricultural Jihad also announced that 40,000 tons of wheat in excess of the needs of the region’s farmers have been purchased this year, saying: This amount of purchased wheat is 95% of the wheat production in the city.
He announced a 30% increase in wheat production compared to last year in this city.
