Kermanshah province is the first in Iran in terms of walnut orchards
The director of horticulture of the Jihad Agricultural Organization of Kermanshah province, announcing that about 100,000 tons of crops have been harvested from the province’s orchards so far, predicted that by the end of this year, this figure will reach 1,200 to 2,210,000 tons.

Announcing that in 2004, 6,000 hectares were added to the area of the province’s gardens, Parandin said: Tropical and subtropical, two percent are related to flowers and ornamental and medicinal plants and the rest are related to non-fruitful trees.
Regarding the geographical distribution of the province’s gardens by cities, he said: The highest level of the province’s gardens with 7665 hectares belongs to Sahneh city and the lowest level of gardens after Dalahou separates from Islamabad-West is related to Islamabad-West city with 1600 hectares.
Announcing that about five percent of the country’s orchards are located in Kermanshah province, Parandin said: In terms of walnut orchards, we are the first in the country.
Currently, the highest area of the province’s orchards is related to walnuts with 33%, followed by blue and rain-fed grapes with 21% and olives with 7%, he said.

Parandin compared one hectare of orchard and one hectare of arable land in terms of production, income and employment and said: One hectare of orchard produces three times as much as one hectare of wheat land, ie for example one hectare of apple orchard produces 20 to 25 tons and one A hectare of land under wheat cultivation produces six to seven tons, in terms of income, the average price of one kilogram of horticultural products is 400 tomans and the price of one kilogram of wheat is 200 tomans.
He stated that the employment of one hectare of agricultural land is seven people per day per year and the average employment of one hectare of garden is 140 people per day per year.
