Noting that barberry turns the fibers purple-red, he added: The mixture of barberry with alum gives a pure yellow color and also the barberry root is used to dye leather.

Pouyan emphasized: Barberry bark is also used to dye baskets and to dye wool, silk and cotton fibers.

He added: There are several reasons for using natural and mineral dyes to dye fibers, especially wool, which is the stability of these dyes and environmental protection as a result of their use.

Pouyan pointed out that hematoxylin is a natural dye produced from the bark of the redwood tree. Pathology and histology are good alternatives to relatively expensive hematoxylin.
