3000 hectares of vineyards in the province are worn out

Abdullah Shrikian, referring to the change in people’s tastes and their desire to consume new products, said:
Since one of the most important agricultural products produced in this province is grapes, follow-ups were done to import new grape varieties.

He added:
In this regard, 30 new grape cultivars have entered the province, which are considered as genotype banks,
and research activities are being carried out on them,
whether they have characteristics such as compatibility with the province’s environment, etc. Or not.

Shrikian continued:
After confirmation and rooting, these cultivars will be transferred to the vineyards of the province and will be planted there.

He stated:
In addition, some cultivars have been piloted in orchards.

The official said that 50 percent of the province’s orchards are grapes, adding that North Khorasan has 18,500 hectares of vineyards,
of which 3,000 hectares are third-class and dilapidated.

He emphasized:
after the approval of 30 new grape cultivars, these cultivars will be planted in the implementation
of the plan to improve and renovate orchards in third grade vineyards.
