Kurdistan ranks third in the production of rain-fed grapes in Iran
The head of the Kurdistan Agricultural Jihad Organization said:
This year, Kurdistan is the third largest producer of dryland grapes.
Mohammad Ibrahim Hassannejad stated:
This year, 111 thousand tons of grapes were produced from the agricultural lands of Kurdistan.
He pointed out that this amount of grapes has been produced in 12,776 hectares of orchards in the province, adding:
This amount of production has increased by five percent compared to last year.
The head of the Kurdistan Agricultural Jihad Organization pointed to the production of 30,000 tons
of strawberries in the province this year and added:
This year, Kurdistan ranks first in the country in the production of this product.
Hassannejad mentioned the area under strawberry cultivation in the province this year as 2,245 hectares:
of this amount, 2,057 hectares were fertile and 188 hectares were infertile.
Announcing that the province’s strawberry production has increased by five percent this year compared to last year, he continued:
Strawberry crop has been cultivated in Kurdistan province for more than 60 years and has been able to play a significant role in the province’s
export growth every year.
The head of the Kurdistan Agricultural Jihad Organization, referring to the employment statistics in this sector, also noted:
Considering the welcome of farmers to produce agricultural products,
sustainable employment opportunities have been provided for 12,000 Kurdish families in the field of strawberry production.
Hassan Nejad reminded in the end:
in addition to 12 thousand Kurdish families, equivalent to 60 thousand people,
are active in the field of strawberry production and are engaged in planting and exploiting strawberry products.
