Growing 113 species of grapes in Malekan Agricultural Research Center
The head of Malekan Agricultural Jihad announced the cultivation of 113 species of grapes in the Agricultural Research Center of this city for the first time in the country.
Manouchehr Rahmani stated that the purpose of this work was to identify the types of grapes in the country and the city with the approach of preparing and propagating grape species resistant to natural disasters such as frost and untimely rains.
He stated that every year we see a lot of damage from natural disasters in vineyards of Malekan city and other parts of the country, he said: In carrying out this research activity, we seek to identify cold-resistant grape species and introduce them to gardeners. کنيم.
He added: The traditional type of cultivation and the use of old crops in vineyards have made the existing grape species vulnerable to the dangers of natural disasters.
Rahmani pointed out that most of the grape species in Malekan city are seedless raisins: this grape species, which includes 90% of the grapes produced by Malekan, due to extensive cultivation, is mainly processed dry and It is exported to different countries of the world and the management of the agricultural jihad of the city is trying to replace it with a resistant species by conducting the necessary research.
Malekan city is considered as one of the few grape origins of the country due to its special climate and soil, and due to its high grape production, it ranks first in the province and third in the country in terms of grape production.
In the last six years, more than two thousand billion rials have been damaged to natural grape growers in Malekan city due to natural disasters. More than 95% of the population of 120,000 people in Malekan city are engaged in gardening.
