The director of horticulture of Yazd Jihad Agricultural Organization announced a 30% decrease in grape production this year compared to the same period last year.

Engineer Seyed Jamal Sajjadipour, stating that in the current crop year, two thousand hectares of the province’s gardens are allocated to the vineyard, emphasized: of this amount, 980 hectares are allocated to Khatam city, 315 hectares to Abarkooh city, 185 hectares to Bahabad district

He added: According to expert estimates, 23,000 tons of grapes will be produced in the province this year, which has decreased by 30% compared to last year due to frost.

He estimated the value of the product at 69 billion rials and noted: The available grape cultivars are royal, military, currant, and ruby, beech and local cultivars, which are mostly consumed fresh in the domestic market and about six thousand tons. After turning into raisins, it is offered to the domestic market.

Sajjadipour mentioned haras, helping to nourish and rejuvenate vineyards in the area of ​​300 hectares, as well as providing technical services and consulting and holding training classes as the main measures taken by the Jihad Agricultural Organization of Yazd Province to create value for the quantitative and qualitative production of grapes. He expressed his hope that with the participation and cooperation of gardeners at the end of the fourth development plan, the area under vineyards will reach 2040 hectares and crop production will increase to 33,800 tons.
