Harvesting 14 thousand tons of grapes in South Khorasan province
The head of the South Khorasan Agricultural Jihad, stating that more than 3,000 hectares of the province’s lands are under grape cultivation, said: This year, 2,090 hectares of blue grapes and 1,027 hectares of dryland grapes have been planted in the province.
Valipour Motlagh added: Birjand city has the first rank in terms of area under grape cultivation and Ghaen city has the first rank in terms of production.
He said: In addition to the consumption needs of the province, harvested grapes are sent to the provinces of Khorasan Razavi, Sistan and Baluchestan.
He announced the grape harvest varieties in the province as Askari, Maye Mishi, Koohi, Amiri, Lal, Hosseini and Yaghouti.
Valipour Motlagh announced the number of grape farmers in the province as 4,000.
It should be noted that last year 13 thousand 509 tons of grapes were harvested in the province.
