Nehbandan Jihad-e-Agriculture Management said: 520 tons of dates have been harvested from Nehbandan orchards this year.

Mohammad Maliki said: ‌ Currently, 380 hectares of land are planted with dates in Nehbandan, of which ‌250 hectares are fertile and 130 hectares are infertile.

He added: up to 6 cultivars of dates including Zahedi, Kabkab, Barhi, commercial cultivars of dates and thorns, Khosh, Perko, Sohrayeh are the local cultivars of dates in Nehbandan.

The management of Nehbandan Jihad-e-Agriculture emphasized: The problems facing farmers regarding the export of dates are high prices, small finances, lack of welcome of farmers by the youth and the old gardens and the lack of machinery and elevators.

Al-Maliki continued: Exports of dates to neighboring provinces are limited by some palm farmers, and the best action in the discussion of brokers is the entry of rural cooperatives in the discussion of marketing and trade of dates.

Emphasizing that the market situation of commercial cultivars is in favor of farmers and producers, he clarified: The market situation of commercial cultivars of dates is suitable and the relationship between supply and demand is in favor of farmers and palm growers, which is the opposite in local cultivars.

Nehbandan Jihad-e-Keshavarzi management reminded: due to lack of proper nutrition of palms and contamination and sensitivity to round mites and fruit-eating moth larvae in local cultivars, it has caused the unfavorable condition of local date cultivars.

Al-Maliki pointed out: The highest level of date harvest in Nehbandan is in the areas of Dehsalam, Jandan and Chahdashi.
