Reza Ashk stated in a specialized conference on dates in the new Arg region of Bam: A total of 200,000 tons of dates are produced in East Kerman and our cold storages have a storage capacity of 250,000 tons.

He pointed out: In the discussion of Bam Mazafati date trade, we should take steps in the direction of new trade and the use of a reputable brand in the field of packaging and marketing.

Ashk added: 32,000 tons of Bam dates have been exported through the customs of Bam city and good infrastructures such as the standard office and the customs office have been built in the city and in this regard, assistance has been provided to the investment sector.

He specified: date producers work hard and the economy of the region depends on the date product and despite the production of 20,000 tons of dates in Bam city, the turnover in the region reaches one thousand billion tomans.

The governor of Bam said: Farmers do not expect the government to work in their place, but the government can provide the infrastructure for the farmer with the support and help the gardeners.

He added: Last year, the government provided funds to fight the date chain pest, and our farmers sprayed about 4,500 hectares of orchards.

The governor of Bam clarified: the Ministry of Jihad for Agriculture should hold extension and orientation classes to help farmers in order to increase farmers’ information.

Ashk continued: The emphasis of the governor of Kerman on the correct use of water should be the top priority of farmers and we should increase production with the plan of water partners and training in new and modern irrigation in Kerman province.
