Harvesting 650 tons of dates from the fertile palms of Nehbandan

Habibollah Hashemipour stated in Nehbandan: Due to the special climatic conditions of Nehbandan city, dates are one of the advantageous products of this city, so that 380 hectares of Nehbandan gardens are dedicated to date cultivation.
He continued: 250 hectares of these groves are fertile, which are located in the villages of Dehsalam, Bandan and Chahdashi.
The head of Nehbandan agricultural jihad added: Nehbandan dates, as the best dates in South Khorasan province, are harvested from the fertile groves of this city in late summer every year and will be consumed in the markets inside and outside the province until mid-December. It is estimated that about 650 tons of dates will be harvested from the city’s fertile palms this year.
Referring to the fact that five cultivars of dates are cultivated in Nehbandan, he said: Kabkab, Zahedi, local cultivars, Khare Khosh and Perko dates are among the most important cultivars of the city.
The head of Nehbandan Agricultural Jihad continued: Every year, the harvest of dates in Nehbandan city begins with the harvest of dates of Kabkab cultivar, which is earlier, and ends with a happy thorn, which is later.
Hashemipour added: In Nehbandan city, 130 families are benefiting from the date crop and it is predicted that the date harvest will increase by five to 10 percent compared to last year.
He mentioned the good weather conditions and rainfall in the last crop year and the increase of fertile orchards in Nehbandan as factors in increasing the harvest performance compared to last year.
