Abdolreza Bazdar stated: This week, the date harvest has started in the groves of the border city of Mehran.

He continued: The area under cultivation of groves in Ilam province is 253 hectares, most of which is located in the tropical region of Mehran.

The official added: We anticipate that this year about 160 tons of dates will be harvested from date palm groves in Ilam province and sent to the market for consumption.

Bazdar stated: Ilam province has different regions in terms of climate and from dates to cold products such as walnuts, strawberries and pomegranates are produced and offered to the consumer market.

The head of the Jihad Agricultural Organization of Ilam province said: Ilam province has a total of 6,000 hectares of fruitful gardens in different climatic regions.

He continued: Apples, peaches, grapes, nectarines, apricots, strawberries, walnuts, olives, dates, etc. are among the garden products produced in Ilam province.
