Jalal Behjoo stated: Due to the production of rain-fed figs as a healthy product considered by consumers and the desire of many neighboring and European countries to buy this product from the gardens of Jahrom city, this has caused gardeners to produce figs with more enthusiasm.

He stated that the necessary ground has been created for the development of planting rainfed fig trees in Khafr and Simkan sections of Jahrom, adding: Currently, there are more than 6,000 hectares of rainfed fig orchards in Jahrom city, which will create more than another 1,500 hectares. From these gardens in areas such as Absard Khafr section is underway.

The head of Jahrom Jihad-e-Agriculture Department said: With this amount of area under dryland fig cultivation, we hope to produce more than 7,000 tons of healthy and chemical-free products for the consumption of our compatriots and also for export to other countries.

He also informed about the existence of flower gardens of Mohammadi, almond and pomegranate in Jahrom city, which due to the high quality of these products in Jahrom, the necessary grounds are provided for the development of their planting.

Lack of conversion industries and proper packaging of horticultural products in Jahrom has caused high quality horticultural and citrus products to be offered in the market at a not very reasonable price, which has caused dissatisfaction among farmers as well as consumers.

According to Jahrom Jihad-e-Agriculture officials, 3,500 tons of figs are exported annually to other cities due to the lack of conversion industries, which is not appropriate for a city that claims to be the center of horticultural and citrus production in the country.
