Consumption of figs is effective in eliminating urea and blood lipids
Figs are very effective in eliminating urea and blood fats due to their potassium content, said a nutritionist.
Morteza Safavi added: Figs are a rich source of insoluble dietary fiber lignin, which plays a major role in preventing and relieving constipation.
Figs can be used in special diets such as low-fat, low-sodium, high-fiber, weight-loss and diabetic diets, he said.
The nutritionist added: Figs do not have sodium and fat and, like other fruits, are cholesterol-free, and 40 grams of fresh figs or a quarter of a glass of figs is equivalent to one unit of fruit, and 1.5 dried figs is equivalent to one unit of fruit or 15 grams of carbohydrates.
Safavi said: Figs are one of the most effective drugs for the treatment of osteoarthritis and joint pain. Soaking it in water or milk is the most effective treatment for constipation, and brewing figs with fenugreek is good for chest pain.
He added: Figs are rich in potassium and provide health to weak, anemic and anorexic children and due to their potassium content, they are very effective in eliminating urea and blood lipids. Fig syrup also relieves sore throat and cough.
