We are interested in maintaining Iran’s caviar export quota
Engineer Vahid Zare Mahforozi, pointing out that the Caspian Sea Living Resources Commission is hosted annually by one of the five Caspian littoral countries (Iran, Russia, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan), added: In 2008 and 2007, this commission was hosted by the country. And this year, the 29th summit was held in Ashgabat, where five representatives from Iran were sent to participate in this specialized meeting.
He said that different issues were discussed in this summit, noting that in this summit, several axes have been raised to determine the quota of sturgeon, which, of course, considering that Iran injects the least pollution into the Caspian Sea and in comparison with the other four countries, the lowest rate. Trafficking is also on the agenda, and the criteria for determining the sturgeon quota of the countries will be discussed in the next meetings of this summit.
He added: Regarding the determination of caviar quota for exports, since the logical reasons of the Islamic Republic of Iran were accepted there, the caviar export quota was not specified in this meeting and it was decided by our country that the 29th commission be renewed so that our country’s proposals Special consideration and decision on determining the caviar quota in this meeting.
Zare said: We hope that in the next two years, when this summit is hosted by Iran and chaired by the Fisheries and in cooperation with the Environment Organization and related organizations, we can create a path so that in the coming years we can discuss basic solutions for Caspian Sea living resources.
