Director of Fisheries and Aquatic Affairs of Fars Jihad Agricultural Organization said: sturgeon production is a new horizon in aquaculture in the province.

Ali Fallahi, stating that Fars for the first time with the cooperation of breeding centers of Gilan province has succeeded in producing 45,000 pieces of sturgeon fry, added: this year for the first time from 2 pieces of Siberian sturgeon, bred in the farm Pars Mehrkhaviar Estahban city, this number of fish was produced in breeding centers of Gilan province and 18,000 pieces of it were transferred to Fars province.
He specified: in addition to meeting the needs of the province’s breeding centers, the needs of other southern provinces will be met.
Director of Fisheries and Aquatic Affairs of Fars Jihad Agricultural Organization stated: Sturgeon has a special position in terms of economic value and currency at the international level, and currently the supply of juvenile fish is one of the main problems of producers of this type of fish.
Mehrkhaviar farm in Estahban city of Fars province, has started its activity since September 2008 with a production capacity of 45 tons of sturgeon meat and now, in addition to producing sturgeon and caviar meat from various sturgeon species with quality one (imperial), production Suitable breeding breeders for breeding sturgeon are also done in this farm.
Fars province with an annual production of 270 kg of caviar and 80 tons of sturgeon meat is ranked first in non-coastal provinces.
