The head of Gilan Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization said: so far, rice has been harvested in 5% of the paddy fields of the province and 30% is ready to be harvested.

Alireza Shabannejad said: Gilan has 238,000 hectares of paddy lands and now the rice crop has reached 100% of the province’s paddy fields.

He added that rice has been harvested in 5% of Gilan’s paddy fields so far, adding: Currently, rice is ready to be harvested in 30% of Gilan’s paddy fields.

Shabannejad continued: According to the reports received from the cities, it seems that this year we will see an increase in white rice production in Gilan province, but the exact amount of production of this product will be announced after the final harvest of rice.

The head of Gilan Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization stated: Most of the cultivars cultivated in Gilan are of the Hashemi type and in Gilan province one of the highest quality rice is produced in the world, which has no rival in terms of taste and quality.

He said that increasing the production of healthy organic rice is one of the priorities of the Guilan Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization, he continued: the use of pesticides in paddy lands has decreased and our emphasis is more on the production of organic produce.

He emphasized on the swift action of paddy farmers to harvest rice and take advantage of the favorable weather conditions in recent days.
