Gilan paddy fields are ready for rice transplanting
The head of Gilan Agricultural Jihad Organization said: 90% of Gilan rice fields are ready for transplanting.
Alireza Shabannejad said: Gilan is one of the rice producing poles of the country and 90% of Gilan rice fields are currently ready for transplanting.
He added: Gilani paddy farmers have plowed 217 thousand hectares out of 238 thousand hectares of paddy fields in the province so far.
The head of Gilan Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization continued: Simultaneous production of rice causes effective management in the amount of water consumed for the production of this product.
He noted that paddy farmers have also been able to obtain treasures for 80% of paddy fields: planting, holding and harvesting rice in Gilan takes 5 to 6 months.
Shabannejad further pointed out that Gilan is the second largest producer of rice in the country with an annual production of 750,000 tons of white rice, noting that this province produces 40% of the country’s rice.
He said: “This year, we are witnessing good growth in various stages of mechanized rice production, and facilities are still being provided to farmers.”
He added: “Mechanization reduces the costs of rice production and increases the desire of rural people in Gilan to produce rice.”
