Rice harvest has accelerated in Gilan

The head of Gilan Agricultural Jihad said: the dormancy damage of rice in Gilan is minor.

Alireza Shabannejad, stating that Gilan has 238,000 hectares of paddy lands, said: So far, rice has been harvested in 20% of Gilan’s paddy fields.

He added: the rains in the province have stopped and because of this, the rice harvest in Gilan has accelerated.

He continued: 17% of Gilan paddy fields were damaged due to rain, which was partial damage.

Shabannejad said: In some lands where the rice did not reach, the damages were more, which included 3% of the damaged paddy fields.

The head of Gilan Agricultural Jihad stated: Mechanization of rice production stages will reduce production costs and this year we predict that 120,000 hectares of rice fields in Gilan will be harvested mechanized.

He said: Special rice harvesters reduce the breakage of rice grains and these harvesters are better than the combine harvesters that entered Gilan from Golestan province.

He went on to say that another effective way to increase the income of farmers is the second crop, adding: This year we plan to do the second crop in 80,000 to 90,000 hectares of paddy fields in Gilan.

Shabanjad said: a high percentage of the yield of the second crop is allocated to ratoon breeding.

He added: Currently, Amlash is more advanced than other cities and has allocated one thousand hectares of paddy lands of Amlash for ratoon breeding.
