Inhibit the growth of prostate cancer with green tea
The results of a new study show that green tea can prevent the progression of prostate cancer by reducing inflammation.
Researchers at the University of California, Berkeley, randomly assigned 6 cups of green tea a day to a group of 67 people with prostate cancer who were scheduled for a prostatectomy and found that drinking 6 cups of green tea, depending on the time of surgery. During the day can affect biomarkers in prostate tissue in this disease.
The results of this study, by observing blood and urine samples of patients treated before and after consuming green tea, indicated that the concentration of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) at the end of the study compared with baseline levels in men who consumed green tea. Decreased prostate tissue protein expression in the study group was lower than the control group.
On the other hand, the results of this study with immunohistochemical staining showed that the nuclear factor kappa B, which indicates inflammation and also the urinary marker of oxidative DNA damage, was significantly reduced in men consuming green tea compared to the control group.
The results of this study offer a new perspective on the mechanism of action of green tea consumption against inflammatory processes associated with the growth of cancer and consider it as a factor in reducing the risk of prostate cancer.
