Consumption of green tea reduces the incidence of gum disease
Research shows that drinking green tea can help you smile and prevent gum disease.
The results of a study in Japan showed that people who drink more green tea have healthier gums and by consuming it reduce the risk of periodontal disease, gingival subsidence and bleeding gums, which can be very effective in having a beautiful smile.
The study adds that the risk of gum disease caused by inflammatory reactions to bacteria in the mouth can be reduced by drinking just one cup of green tea a day.
The researchers added that the health benefits of green tea are due to the antioxidant properties of a flavonoid phytochemical called catechin, which fights inflammation caused by periodontal disease and, unlike black tea, contains the highest amount of catechins.
Other results of this study showed that green tea, while not having serious side effects, can prevent cancer and help with weight loss, but may have irritating effects on the central nervous system, and therefore those who suffer from sleep disorders. They should not consume too much green tea and pregnant and lactating women should avoid drinking it.
Instead of drinking a soda bottle that causes bones and teeth to break down, people can drink a cup of green tea and enjoy a beautiful smile, researchers say.
