Green tea prevents bowel cancer
Recent experiments on laboratory animals show that the use of green tea extract can prevent colorectal cancer.
According to research presented at the Sixth International Congress on Cancer Prevention in the United States, the use of green tea can prevent the growth of rectal intestinal tumors in rat mice.
Our research shows that less than 50 percent of mice fed a certain amount of green tea in their diet develop colon cancer, said Dr. Hong of Ernst Mario University in New Jersey.
This study confirmed previous research on green tea and its effects on the prevention of bowel cancer, but in this rat was injected with azoxethane, a chemical that causes intestinal-anal tumors.
The rats were then given high-fat foods with or without green tea for 34 weeks, with 4 to 6 cups of green tea consumed daily.
The results show that the number and size of tumors in mice with green tea in their diet became smaller and smaller.
Also, 67% of mice that did not have green tea in their diet showed signs of malignant tumor, while in the second group only 27% showed this symptom.
This study emphasizes the special use of green tea for humans and also discusses the benefits of green tea.
