Drinking a cup of tea daily reduces the risk of dementia
The findings show that people with the dementia gene can reduce the risk of developing toxic masses in their brains by up to 86 percent.
According to researchers at the National University of Singapore, both green tea and black tea contain compounds such as catechins and theoflavin in tea leaves that have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
These compounds help protect the brain against vascular damage and neuronal damage, said Feng Li, head of the research team.
Our study data show that a simple, inexpensive lifestyle, such as drinking a cup of tea a day, can reduce the risk of developing neurocognitive disorders in old age, he said.
According to researchers at the National University of Singapore, both green tea and black tea contain compounds such as catechins and theoflavin in tea leaves that have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
The researchers studied 957 adults over the age of 55 for 12 years and gathered information about their lifestyle, medical condition and physical activity.
Participants were also examined for cognitive function every two years using standard tools.
New report shows that long-term consumption of tea fills the body with powerful antioxidants, which strengthens cognitive function.
