He added: 81% of spring green tea leaves purchased from Amlishi farmers were first grade and 19% were second grade.

Talebi added: So far, 16 billion and 308 million rials have been paid from the price of Amlishi green tea leaves and the rest will be paid gradually.

This year, the government, in support of tea farmers, has increased the guaranteed purchase price of green tea leaves by 21% compared to the previous year, buying first grade green tea leaves at 21,800 Rials and second grade green tea leaves at 12,100 Rials.

This is seven percent more than annual inflation and six percent higher than the average for all agricultural products.

Meanwhile, due to the government’s determination to revive the tea industry and return it to the prosperous era of the past, the task of tea farmers is heavier than before and they should pruning and plowing tea lands more than before.

In Gilan and Mazandaran provinces, there are more than 30,000 hectares of tea gardens, about 90% of which are located in Gilan.

The dry tea required by the country is estimated at about 100,000 tons per year, while according to forecasts, 22,000 tons of dry tea will be produced in Gilan province this year.

Amlash city with 5,200 hectares of tea garden is located 75 km east of the center of Gilan.
