Before starting the cumin consumption period, first during a briefing session, the objectives, design and methodology of the research, how to use cumin and its brief introduction, laboratory evaluations (eg blood sampling) and the stages and schedule of the research were explained in detail to the candidates. .

Candidates were also instructed on how to properly perform cardiorespiratory function and muscle strength assessment tests. Before and after the test, subjects warmed and cooled themselves for five to 10 minutes, and recovered for five minutes between consecutive tests. After the pre-test phase, the cumin consumption period began.

In the present study, cumin was purchased and approved by a senior botanist.
