Cultivation of Damask rose in 250 hectares of gardens in Kurdistan

The Public Relations Manager of the Jihad Agricultural Organization of Kurdistan Province said: This year, 250 hectares of Kurdistan lands have been planted with Damask rose.

Mehdi Fathi stated: Last year, 171 hectares of the province’s gardens were under Damask rose cultivation, and this year this figure has increased to 250 hectares.

Director of Public Relations of Jihad Keshavarzi of Kurdistan Province, pointing out that 160 hectares of these orchards have fertile crops, added: considering that each hectare of orchards produces an average of 4 tons of flowers, it is expected that this year at least 640 tons of Damask Rose should be harvested from the gardens of the province.

He added: At present, there are 4 rose-making workshops in the province under the supervision of Jihad Keshavarzi, of which 2 units are operating in Sanandaj, one unit in Marivan and one unit in Dehgolan.

Harvest of Damask rose will start from the second half of May and will continue until the end of June.
