Forecast of harvesting 150 tons of Damask rose in Neyriz Fars

The director of Jihad-e-Agriculture of Neyriz city in Fars province said: with the beginning of the Damask rose harvest season, it is predicted that about 150 tons of this product will be harvested from the flowers of the city in the form of buds and petals this year.

Alireza Basiri, stating that the harvest of Damask rose has started from mid-April and will continue until May 6, said: the area under cultivation of this crop in the city is more than 120 hectares, of which 80 hectares are fertile and 40 hectares are infertile.

Jihad-e-Keshavarzi Neyriz, Basiri said: Planting Damask rose in arid and low water areas due to the critical situation of water resources in the region and the need to plant low water crops has made planting medicinal plants, especially Damask rose, the best alternative to high water crops.

Basiri added: The most important uses of Damask rose include the preparation of roses, essential oils and the pharmaceutical industry, and in addition to the domestic market, its products are exported to the countries bordering the Persian Gulf, Central Asia and Europe.
