Mohammad Reza Yousefnejad said: 40 exploiters in this city are engaged in picking and harvesting Damask rose.

He added: Currently, there are 10 hectares of Damask rose garden in Shaft, and every year, an average of 50 tons of Mohammadi white flowers are harvested and 5,000 liters of rosewater are extracted.

Yousefnejad continued: Four rose-making workshops in the city collect rose-water from these flowers.

He pointed out: We had planned to add seven hectares to the Damask rose orchards in Shaft city this year, but due to heavy snowfall during the planting of the seedlings of these flowers, we could not achieve these goals.

The director of Shaft Agricultural Jihad said: this year, only 2 hectares have been added to the Damask rose gardens of this city.

He specified: Gildeh village is the center of Damask rose production in this city and it can be said with confidence that the quality of Gildeh rosewater is equal to Kashan rosewater and it can even be said that it has a better aroma and taste.

Yousefnejad added: In addition to snow, the corona outbreak also played a role in the failure to add seven hectares of Damask rose orchards to Shaft orchards.

He said that in addition to the consumption of the city, the sale of Gildeh roses in other cities of the province is also well received, he continued: Rural women have a high participation in growing and harvesting Damask rose in this city.

The director of Shaft Agricultural Jihad said: after the Damask rose harvest and the end of rose picking in this city, the workshops start sweating other medicinal plants.
