Activity of 65 rose-picking units from Damask rose in South Khorasan
The director of horticulture affairs of the South Khorasan Jihad Agricultural Organization stated that it is expected that 510 tons of Damask rose will be harvested from the province’s orchards this year.
Abdolreza Rezaei said: The area under cultivation of Damask rose in the province in 1399 was 18 hectares, of which 503 tons of Damask rose were harvested from farms.
Referring to the drought, lack of rainfall and declining quality of water resources in the province, he added: This year, 510 tons of Damask rose are expected to be harvested.
Rezaei stated that last year we had 318 hectares of Damask rose lands in the province, and specified: Compared to 1398, we had an increase of 58 hectares.
The director of horticultural affairs of the Jihad Agricultural Organization of South Khorasan continued: Damask rose harvest has started in warmer regions from April 1 and will continue until mid-May.
Rezaei stated: 58 traditional units and 7 industrial rose-making units are active in the province, and the rose-making capacity of the units is 85,500 liters.
He pointed out that the most harvest of Damask rose belongs to Sarbisheh farms, reminded: out of 318 hectares of Damask rose lands, 105 hectares belong to Sarbisheh city.
