Export of Bandar Lengeh onion to UAE
The director of Bandar Lengeh Agricultural Jihad said: in addition to domestic consumption, the onion harvested in the city is exported to the countries bordering the Persian Gulf, including the United Arab Emirates.
Mohammad Pour-Ali announced the onion harvest in the city and stated: The onion harvesting operation has started from 100 hectares of agricultural lands in Bandar Lengeh and it is expected that about 3000 tons of onions will be harvested by the end of June.
He added: Due to holding training classes and technical supervision over the planting, maintenance, harvesting and implementation of pressurized irrigation operations, this year’s production has increased by 10% compared to last year.
Pour-Ali stated that part of the crop grown in the form of onions along with leafy vegetables was harvested in December of last year, noting that most of the onion cultivation is done in the villages of Shenas, Gozir, Chah-e-Muslim, Padel and Lamzan. The price of each kilogram of onion with the local figure is 3500 Tomans.
