Monitoring of onion fields in Mahabad
The head of crop production of Mahabad Agricultural Jihad said: Jihad-e-Agriculture experts monitored and examined the onion fields of this city with the aim of reducing water consumption.
Alizadeh, the head of crop production of Jihad Keshavarzi, said: Experts of Jihad Keshavarzi Center of Makrian Gharbi village examined 9 hectares of onion fields in Darlak village of this city to prevent wastage of agricultural water.
He added: Onions are grown in spring and only in water, and during the summer it needs several waterings and is harvested in late September.
Alizadeh added: In the current crop year, 600 hectares of agricultural lands in Mahabad city have been allocated for the cultivation of vegetables and summer crops such as onions, tomatoes, peppers and potatoes and various vegetables, which has increased by 40% compared to last year.
The head of crop production of Mahabad Agricultural Jihad continued: radish, leek, watercress, spinach, parsley, green beans, coriander, beets, chickpeas, savory, onion, beans, and green and purple basil are among the products that the villagers have at the beginning of spring. And in the fall, they sow their seeds in the ground to market after they have grown.
