Beginning of harvesting damask rose from small straw flowers

Damask rose harvest season has arrived and it is expected that about 150 tons of crop will be harvested from the flowers of Neyriz city this year in the form of buds and petals.

Harvesting of damask rose has started from the middle of April and will continue until the 15th of April.

The director of Jihad-e-Keshavarzi stated that the area under cultivation of this crop in the city is more than 120 hectares, of which 80 hectares are fertile and 40 hectares are infertile. Planting of agricultural crops is felt to be low water, which is why planting of medicinal plants, especially damask rose, is the best alternative for high water crops.

Basiri added: The most important uses of damask rose include rose, essential oil and pharmaceutical industries, and in addition to the domestic market, its products are exported to the countries bordering the Persian Gulf, Central Asia and Europe.
