Hashtrood is a land of rivers, mountains and beautiful natural landscapes. It is a city in East Azerbaijan, bordering the cities of Miyaneh and Maragheh to the west and east. It is said that the old name of Hashtrood was Saltkanrood. This city was named because of the flow of eight rivers of Abdooghmush, Aji Chai, Qaranqo, Qala-e Chai, Quri Chai, Leylan Chai, Amirloo and Qaraqiyeh in Hashtrood region. The city has a mountainous climate with cold winters and mild summers. The occupation of most of the inhabitants of Hashtrood is agriculture and its most important products are cereals, grains, fruits, vegetables, apricots, walnuts, wheat and barley, and forage plants. Zahak Castle, Hashtrood Grand Mosque, Bayazid Tomb, Timur Palace is one of the historical attractions of the region, which along with natural attractions such as Yatiq, Bezojiq, Wetlands, Mountains and Rocks of the region and Sahand Hashtrood Lake and Mountain, is a tourist area in Azerbaijan. . The people of Hashtrood speak Azerbaijani Turkish. Carpet weaving and jajim weaving are the most important handicrafts of Hashtrood, and local dairy products as well as local fatir are among the souvenirs of the region.
Hashtrood carpet or rug Hashtrood is a light rural carpet woven in Hashtrood region located in East Azarbaijan province in northwestern Iran. In this carpet, symmetrical and asymmetrical knots are used with cotton thread and wool and goat’s hair and woolen lint.
