All about Iranian Chaharbagh carpet
Chaharbagh carpet is one of the most famous Iranian carpets that has a unique design. The size of this carpet is large and its main design is trees and plants. The exact time of weaving this carpet has not been determined yet.
Arab historians have provided us with information about one of the most famous examples of carpets in the history of Iran, a masterpiece that is referred to as “Bahar Khosravani”.
This amazing carpet work has been great in size. The carpet is woven with Simin and Zarrin fabrics and jewelry. Although the exact pattern of this carpet is not known, its trees and plants are mentioned.
The carpet, which is comparable to the spring of Khosravani in the Safavid period, was woven in the seventeenth century in the west.
Although some may not agree with this hypothesis, the simple design of four Iranian gardens called Chaharbagh on the carpet cannot reach before the tenth century AH / sixteenth century AD.
The basis of this theory is that samples of pre-dated carpets are not available, which is natural. In fact, the carpets that evoke the campus are mostly “carpet-gardens”, not Safavid-era hunting carpets. This is confirmed by the opinions found in Northwestern Iran.
Chaharbagh carpet
It was during the reign of Shah Abbas that it became common to make carpets with floral motifs. The carpet was called Chahar Bagh because it reflects the normal division of the garden into four parts.
A significant number of rugs with garden designs can be found among private and public collections.
Few of them belong to the seventeenth century / eleventh century AH and some more to the eighteenth century / twelfth century AH and early nineteenth century / thirteenth century AH, and examples of recent carpets, most of which have taken a certain style and style.
