All about Mahabad carpets in Iran
Mahabad carpet is one of the light rural carpets that is woven in Mahabad region located in West Azarbaijan province in northwestern Iran. In this carpet, symmetrical knots are used with cotton thread and woolen lint. Geometry is one of the common designs and red, blue, ivory and beige are the common colors of Mahabad carpet.
Apart from the production of traditional and local Kurdish carpets, carpet weaving has become more widespread in Mahabad in recent years, and various workshops in this city are engaged in weaving and producing all kinds of Raj 50 and above carpets with urban and revolving maps. The map of carpets produced in Mahabad is ordered by merchants of different cities, including Tabriz, and the designs of Golrang, Lachak Toranj, Shah Abbas, Zirkhaki with cream background color, lacquer, crimson, onion skin are used in them. With chemical dyes, it is used for weaving Tabrizi carpet weaving machine and standing and it is a symmetrical Turkish knot in the style of Tabriz carpets. These carpets are woven in different types of back, side and half, carpet, curtain, 4 * 3 meters and even bigger.
