Shahsawan kilims are classified according to Shahsawan tribes. The Shahs have been divided into several separate groups, including Moghan, Hashtrood, Miyaneh, Khamseh, Bijar, Saveh, Qazvin, and Varamin.

Shahsawan Moghan kilim
Moghan kilim is one of the types of Shahsawan kilims and they are the largest Shahsawan tribe of Moghan tribe. The designs used in the basements of this tribe are very traditional and there is a certain harmony in the design, color and quality of the woven kilims in this tribe. The characteristics of Shahsawan Moghan’s kilim include the following:

1- All of them are woven in a narrow and long way.
2. They all have a creased texture and two free sides that are sewn together from the edge.
3- The colors used in this type of underlay are bright and shiny, and of course, white and unpainted woolen yarns close to milky or brown are also used in their texture.
4. Another feature of this type of fabric is the horizontal and traditional stripes, which are woven with Turkish drawings and rotating fabrics in two colors or one color.
5- In Shahsawan Moghan, the underlays are woven with a narrow border and Laleh Abbasi’s flowers can be seen in their design and plan.

Shahsawan Hashtrood kilim
The distinguishing feature of this type of weaving in Hashtrood tribe is its woolen and rough and loose texture. It tends to be brown. The resemblance of these weaves is very similar to the weaves of the Kurdish tribes, and the borders are simply woven. What makes this weave rough is the use of cracked tissue and connective tissue.

Shahsawan Varamin kilim
Varamin city is one of the important centers of kilim weaving that different tribes in this city cooperate in weaving this product. The interference of the customs and traditions of the Kurdish, Lor, Turk and Afshar tribes in this city has also affected the weavings. In the texture of Shahsawan , Varamin, there are broken methods, connected texture and s-like designs, which are very similar to Afshar and Kurdish textures. Strong heads, rectangular shapes, knotted roots and their texture in four groups are other features of Shahsawan , Varamin’s texture.

Middle Shahsawan kilim
One of the features of the textures of this people is the presence of traditional ribbon designs and large congressional bergamots in its designs. Wool or cotton yarns, self-dyed yarns, woven textures, border lines in the form of weaving screws and the presence of contrasting colors in it are the characteristics of the kilim of this region. The colors used in these weaves are generally yellow, orange, light blue, red cherry, and light brown.
